Best New X79 Chipset Motherboard 2013 – Socket 2011

If you’re a gaming enthusiast and have to have the best, then a X79 chipset motherboard is where you should be headed in 2012. X79 motherboards are for use with Intel’s new Socket 2011 Sandy Bridge-e series CPU which includes the i7-3930k and the i7-3960x. Both of these processors are showing a large increase in overall benchmark performance at sites like cpubenchmark.net.

Useful Information

The X79 chipset motherboards will be forward compatible with Ivy Bridge-e CPU set to release in late 2012. Some, not all, of them are compatible with up to 128GB of memory. While that’s assuming you can find and afford 16GB DIMM sticks it’s still a sizable upgrade over previous 32GB motherboards. The X79 chipset, along with the Z68 GEN3, motherboards can also take advantage of true PCIe 3.0.

I’m not a fanboy of Asus and Gigabyte but I’ve had very few problems in the past. That being said Gigabyte’s higher-end X79 motherboards, including the “Assassin”, have shown some stability issues.
